Frequently asked questions

Does BTA compensate for the receipts if the service is not provided by a contractual institution?
BTA compensates such expenses if the insured has a Silver, Amber, Premium, Lux Plus, Extra Plus or Classic Plus health insurance card. This condition does not apply to athletic clubs (including swimming pools) and certain medical institutions. You can find these institutions in the BTA health insurance institution search engine. Make sure you have chosen the right institution before receiving services.

BTA does not compensate such expenses if the insured has a Lux, Extra or Classic health insurance card.

Does BTA pay for cheques if the service was not received at a contractual company?
Yes, BTA pays for the cheques of all medical establishments within the scope of your health insurance program, except for health clubs.

Can I lend my health insurance card to a family member to use?
No, it is prohibited. When discovering such cases, BTA is entitled to collect losses from the policy holder (company), or from the insured person, in the amount incurred as losses by BTA due to unauthorized use of the health insurance card. If such cases are discovered by contractual companies, the staff of the company is entitled to confiscate the card and submit it to BTA.

What should I do if my purse is stolen together with a BTA health insurance card?
Such cases should be reported to your employer (the contact person who issued your health insurance card), as well as indicate in which BTA branch office you would like to receive the new card.

What happens in the event the fixed service limit of the insurance programme is exceeded?
If the amount of the limit indicated in the health insurance programme has been exceeded, the insured person is obliged at the request of BTA to repay the part of insurance indemnity that exceeds the stated limit.

Does BTA pay for medicaments that have been purchased without a prescription?
No. BTA pays only for the medicaments prescribed by a doctor, therefore the purchase of medicaments takes place based on a prescription. For this reason we recommend clients to make sure they receive a copy of the prescription by copying the prescription before visiting the pharmacy or at the pharmacy.

Does BTA pay also for medicaments that have been prescribed as regular prescriptions or only those that have been prescribed as special prescriptions?
Yes, BTA pays for regular prescriptions. We would like to explain that, if a medicament paid for by the BTA health insurance policy has been prescribed as a special prescription then, when purchasing it at BTA contractual companies, the discount provided by the health insurance medicaments programme is applied at once and you only have to pay the difference from the price of medicament. However, medicaments purchased as ordinary prescriptions according to health insurance medicaments programmes are also covered by BTA, but payment for them is made according to the supporting documents submitted to BTA (prescription, receipt).

Is it possible to change prescription lenses without changing the glasses frames, for example, in the event vision worsens?
Yes, it is possible. If there are medical indications, for example, worsening of vision, then the provisions of optics programmes permit prescription lenses to be changed without changing the glasses frames.

Does BTA compensate eye exams done at optics shops?
Yes, it does, and the service amount is covered by the limit of the optics programme. The service amount for eye exams may also be covered by the limits of the basic programmes (A3, A4, A8) within the scope of the total sum insured, if the service is received in outpatient establishments.
