BTA supports

A press conference took place today, the 30th of April, to brief media about the Riga Leg of the international regatta The Tall Ships Races 2013 coming. BTA Insurance Company SE presents Riga City with a 10-million-euro worth insurance of civil liability of the hosts of Riga Leg.

According to the results of the survey carried out by BTA Insurance Company SE the students of Latvian sports schools believe that the time will come when the Latvian basketball national team will manage to get the gold medal in the European basketball championship again.

On Sunday, 24 February, the air near Cēsis Castle Park will be filled with engine noise and adrenaline – Red Bull Twitch’n’ride is coming to town. This is a kind of skijoring you haven’t ever seen before! BTA supports the prize fund of this exciting event and also invites those who are not professional skijoring riders to participate in the Open Class.

Cēsis is only the second Latvian city to offer a free showing of the movie “Dream Team 1935” thanks to BTA Insurance Company SE. Half a thousand viewers came to Cēsis City Sports School, where they settled comfortably in their seats, ready for the great event.

For the fifth year in a row, the Association For a Strong Latvia! and BTA Insurance Company invite all adventurous women to participate in a real car driving adventure – BTA Women’s Day Rally 2013. Ticket sales start already on 17 December so that everyone interested has time to get the very best Christmas gift.

LNT Regional and Latgale Regional Television (11.12. 2012) announced that, with the support of BTA, the film Dream Team 1935 will be shown in eighty sport schools in Latvia...

Yesterday, on 21 November, the episode "Have you got insurance?" from the film "Dream team 1935" during its premiere for BTA held at the Splendid Palace not only brought together the success and achievement stories of the present day and the distant 1935, but also and in particular, 560 BTA customers, partners and colleagues.

Next year will be the tenth year that BTA Insurance Company SE has been taking care of the safety of the Freedom Monument – the symbol of Latvian cultural heritage and independence. This year, during the national holidays, the insurance policy of the Freedom Monument will be renewed.

On 15 September, the award ceremony for the “Family of the Year of 2012” contest took place at the Rēzekne house of culture. The contest was organized by the “Rēzekne Moms' Club" society, and BTA Insurance Company SE was happy to support the event.

Throughout the summer BTA supported Pro Drift and East European drift champion Jānis Eglītis, and also went to drift races and met fans of the sport. At drifting events spectators had the opportunity to participate in the BTA lottery, and win a ride on the drift course with Jānis Eglītis in his ProDrift car. To participate in the lottery, you only had to complete a questionnaire.

On 11 September at Durbe Castle the opening of the exhibition “Letters between Rainis and Aspazija” took a place. We responded to the invitation of Tukums Museum and presented the museum with the insurance policy for this exhibition.

Latvia’s only training yacht Spaniel has concluded its participation in the international training sailing ship and yacht regatta The Tall Ships Races 2012. In all three stages of the races Spaniel achieved exceptional results – Spaniel earned the “Fastest regatta participant” title in Race One; earned 4th place in Race Two and 3rd place in race Three.

After returning to Latvia from the Olympic Games in London, BTA Insurance Company SE presented Māris Štrombergs, the Latvian BMX racer, two time and only Olympic champion in BMX men’s cycling, with an EUR 100 000 insurance policy.

The long-awaited summer has arrived, the weather is getting warmer and on 16 June the first Latvian Championship period of the 2012 Pro Drift season has intensively concluded, as well as the second Eastern Europe Drift Championship’s (EEDC) period, both of which were simultaneously held at Biķernieki Complex Sports Centre.

The Latvian yacht “Spaniel” departed from Andrejsala to France, where it will start the participation at the international regatta “The Tall Ship Races” to compete for the victory. The yacht “Spaniel” has been participating in the regatta “The Tall Ship Races” since 1998, and is the only C class yacht in the fleet which during this period has gained 16 prizes in its class, including 7 victories.

On 12 June, the summer practice program for children, Young Entrepreneur, which is organised by Rīgas piena kombināts AS (RPK) started. The first ten participants of the program will start their job as mobile ice-cream vendors, selling ice-cream in the streets of Riga from special bicycles. During their practice all of the children will receive BTA Accident Insurance.

On 2 June, recreation complex Turbas hosted the mass media games organised by BNS news agency, which took place for the eighteenth time, thus celebrating the coming-of-age of the games.

With the support of BTA, a team of five inquisitive Latvians – Mārtiņš Sirmais, Ēriks Dreibants – both from the restaurant 3 pavāru restorāns, cameraman Mikus Meirāns, photographer Kristīne Meirāne, and six year old treasure hunter Edžus Meirāns – travelled to Cameroon on a three-week adventure. The goal of the journey was to get acquainted with local food and traditions, visit tea and coffee plantations, and tell of the new experiences on five episodes of a TV show.

The BTA supported project Tricycles HOPP has opened its season. The first event, in which children with special needs – mobility and mental disorders – could try out the tricycles, took place on 1 May, in Mežaparks.

On 1 May, Healthy Lifestyle Day will take place in Mežaparks. The prize pool of the event is also supported by BTA.

On Saturday, 31 March, in Latvia and other places all over the world from 20:30 to 21:30, the event Earth Hour 2012 was observed. During this event people were encouraged unite over the idea of choosing a more eco-friendly lifestyle and reduce resources on a daily basis.

Splendid awarding ceremony and cheerful party at the fashion - entertainment centre Riga Plaza concluded the annual BTA Women's Day Rally 2012 last Saturday, March 10. This year's rally gathered a record high number of participants and as many as 311 crews entered the race circuit on the morning of the competition. Approximately half of this year's contestants participated in the rally a year ago, confirming that the event is assuming a significant role in the life of Latvian motor sports and serves as a respectable beginning for the Latvian rally season.

The cold winter temperatures of the last weekend provided perfect conditions for the 8th Winter Swimming World Championship, which took place in Lielupe, Jūrmala from 20 January to 22 January, and for which BTA provided the civil liability insurance of the event as well as personal accident insurance for the participants.

Patriots’ Week, jointly organised by BTA and LNT, has ended after spanning from Lāčplēsis Day until the Day of Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia on 18 November.

On 10 September, in Biķernieki, the first North European Zone (NEZ) PRO Drift Championship took place, with civil liability being insured by the BTA.

Last week, little singer Agate Albekeite, who already has many fans here in Latvia, returned from the competition New Wave Junior 2011 after winning the People’s Choice Award.

On Saturday, 27 August, at Garciems beach in the G-Spot Bar, cycling fans organized the campaign “You shall not steal” – an event aimed at promoting cycling and also protesting against bicycle theft.

On Friday, 26 August, in Dobele, Tandēms sports club organised the annual cycling race – Latvian Junior Championship – which was also supported by BTA.

250 choirs from throughout Latvia, totalling 8 000 participants, sang in celebration of Riga’s 810th birthday at the impressive main concert which assembled 18 000 spectators. The classical section of the main concert programme was opened by Kārlis Baumanis' national anthem Dievs Svētī Latviju (God Bless Latvia), conducted by Romāns Vanags, artistic director of the main concert and senior conductor.

The International Charity Festivals Happy Family organised by the Daugavpils City Council Department of Social Affairs was held in Daugavpils on 20 August.

The annual Town Festival was held in Aizpute from 8th to 14th August.

In July, Latvian skydivers Ingus Augstkalns and Reinis Rūtentāls traveled to the Kjerag cliffs in Norway to jump from them for the first time and join the ranks of the world’s b.a.s.e. (jumping from buildings, antennas, bridges and cliffs) jumpers.

On 13 August, in the Daugavpils kart circuit Blāzma two drift competitions took place – Stage 3 of the Latvian Drift Cup and also Stage 4 of the Latvian PRO Drift Championship.

On 28-29 July, Jūrmala hosted the children’s fencing competition Baltijas zobens (Baltic Sword). Sixty children from Latvia, Ukraine and Russia participated in the competition.

From 5 to 8 August, the town of Ludza celebrated its 834th anniversary. Those were wonderful days saturated with entertainment where every day and event had a charm of its own.

From 29 to 31 July the 13th annual Sabile Vineyard Festival took place in Sabile. BTA as a supporter of this festival and also the participant took part for the second year.

From 7 to 10 July the 3rd international classical drama amateur theatre festival CHERRY GARDEN 2011 took place in Balvi.

This year the city of Līvāni celebrated its 85th anniversary that went for 3 days. During the celebration days the guests of the city were offered different activities, concerts, as well as the opportunity to learn more about the history of the city.

This summer Rēzekne District Municipality delighted its inhabitants and guests with an exciting, entertaining, family-oriented and intellectually eventful celebration week – Rēzekne District Days.

The city festival Kuldīga Feast delighted Kuldīga from 14 to 17 July, which surprises every year with its richness, attractiveness, versatility and cosy atmosphere. BTA participates as a festival supporter for the fifth year.

On Sunday, 10 July, at Biķernieki racetrack, a drift competition took place – Latvian Drift Cup and also Latvian Drift Championship: in Street, ProAm and PRO classes. On the competition day, BTA took care of the safety of the event by insuring civil liability of the drifters.

Valērija Satibaldijeva, the winner of the song competition Mazo dziesmas Latvijai (Children’s Songs for Latvia) organised by LNT and BTA Insurance Company SE and also the winner of the viewers’ choice award, today, in the sound recording studio of Sound Division Studios, recorded her first single titled Kādēļ tā? (Why so?), the lyrics and music for which were written by Valērija’s music teacher Evita Podoļeca. Recording of the single is done by Micrec.

In order to participate in the biggest ever regatta The Tall Ships Races 2011 today the Latvian yacht SPANIEL headed from the Andrejosta yacht club to Ireland, where on the 3rd of July it will take part in the race for the main prize of the regatta.

On Saturday, 4 June, the Blue Flag was raised for the thirteenth time on the Ventspils beach. The Blue Flag means that the water quality, environmental management, environmental information and education improvement and services meet the European Union criteria.

This is the third consecutive year BTA has supported the BTA Rally Talsi. This year's rally took place on 14–15 May.
